Summary
Running from 2025‑26 to 2031‑32, the seven‑year initiative will train frontline forest personnel across all Indian states in fire management, biodiversity conservation, and modern digital tools.
The project combines traditional community knowledge with scientific research and emerging technologies to create practical solutions.
A total budget of about 537 billion Indian rupees is shared between the Japanese agency (about 440 billion rupees) and the Indian government (about 97 billion rupees).
The programme also plans to share best practices with neighboring South Asian countries and support livelihood generation for forest‑dependent communities.
