Leaders from Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Burundi, Kazakhstan and Uganda were greeted.
The event runs on September 12 and 13 in New Delhi.
Key topics include resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability.
Later, one‑on‑one talks are planned with leaders from South Africa, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Egypt, Burundi, Uganda and Nigeria.
The gathering is part of a meeting of five big countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
They will talk about staying strong, new ideas, teamwork and protecting the planet.
The Prime Minister will also meet leaders from seven other nations the next day.
