Summary
Phase one focuses on 662 strategically important villages in the northern frontier, allocating Indian rupees 4,800 crore mainly for all‑weather roads, water, electricity, health, education, and digital access.
Phase two expands the model to the remaining border areas, covering 1,954 villages with an additional Indian rupees 6,839 crore for roads, telecom, health services, financial inclusion, skill development, and tourism circuits.
The programme links development with security, believing that prosperous, well‑connected communities provide valuable information and support to border security forces while reducing out‑migration.
