490 officers were awarded the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Medal.
The medal celebrates excellence in police work, investigations, intelligence and forensic science.
It is presented by the Ministry of Home Affairs each year on October 31.
The date coincides with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
